FAQ SPS-D / SPS-CBD

1. The power supply doesn’t turn on

Verify the input power supply is present and above all is correct.
If any automatic switches are present before the power supply, be sure to set the CLOSE position
If the problem persiste, there may be an internal fault send the power supply to Advel for a check.

NOTE: DO NOT oper the rack to check fo open fuses !!!

2. RMT in alarm after the load is introduced

If a too elevated load is introduced, the power supply goes in “protection state”, lowering its nominal output voltaget, and accordingly RMT goes in alarm state. So, be sure to use a load suitable to the capacity of the power supply. Verify that the inrush current of the load is not excessive.

.

3. Giving power to the power supply without load and then giving a load, all is ok. But powering on the power supply with the load already connected, the power supply turns on and off repeatedly

It’s a typical problem of undersized power source: be sure to use a suitable power supply (20% more at least than the nominal power of the power supply).

4. FCD led is on (red) in power supply 750W or 1000W

The internal fan is supervised by the FCD device (Fan Control Device).
● FCD Led is on red → the relative fan works at less than 70% of the rated fan speed, try cleaning the fan with compressed air to remove any dust. If the problem persists, the fan must be replaced.
● FCD Led is red blinking → the relative fan works at less than 30% of the rated speed, or is stopped. The fan is to be replaced, unless there is an obstacle that stops the fan.

5. The CS connection must be wired always or not?

● The CS connection (Current Sharing) must be wired between 2 or more power supplies in parallel each other, to ensure an equally sharing of the load current (increasing the reliability of the system.
● The CS connection MUST NOT be wired between power supplies with outputs in series: in this last case, infact, the power supplies would fail instantly!

6. It's possible to put in parallel power supplies of different series?

It is not always possible to put different series of power supplies in parallel. For example electrically:
SPS-D series is compatible with SPS-D1 series
SPS-DZ1 series is compatible with SPS-DX series
However mechanically power supplies of different series may differ quite a bit each other. Please, always ask Advel Sales/Technical Office if is possible to put in parallel power supplies of different series.
